Anthropic made its most aggressive push into financial services yet on Tuesday, unveiling 10 pre-built AI agent templates designed to automate the most time-consuming work in banking, insurance, and asset management. The launch, announced at an invite-only event in New York, signals that Anthropic is no longer just selling AI software to financial institutions. It is building the infrastructure and deployment relationships to become the operating layer for Wall Street.
The 10 agent templates cover work across research, operations, and finance functions. On the research side, the new agents include a pitch builder that generates comps models and draft pitchbooks, a meeting prep tool, an earnings reviewer that flags relevant model updates from transcripts, and a financial model builder. Operations-focused templates handle tasks like general ledger reconciliation, month-end closing, financial statement auditing, and KYC screening that assembles entity files and packages escalation cases for compliance teams. Claude Gets Deeper Into Microsoft 365
Anthropic also rolled out full Microsoft 365 integration, enabling Claude to function as a single agent across Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook, carrying context across all four applications simultaneously. Add-ins for Excel, PowerPoint, and Word became generally available Tuesday. For financial services firms where analysts spend large portions of their day toggling between spreadsheets, slide decks, and email, this is a meaningful workflow change. Fortune
The agents are designed to deploy in two ways: as plugins inside Claude Cowork or Claude Code, where they run alongside an analyst's existing desktop software, or as standalone Claude-powered applications. In both cases, users retain approval authority over Claude's work before anything reaches a client or gets filed. InvestmentNews
New Data Partnerships Extend Claude's Reach
The announcement came with a notable expansion of data partnerships. Moody's is embedding its full platform into Claude as a native app, enabling users to analyze credit ratings and risk data for more than 600 million companies without leaving the Claude interface. Anthropic also added connectors to Dun & Bradstreet, Verisk, Third Bridge, Fiscal AI, Guidepoint, and IBISWorld, giving agents real-time access to market data, expert interview transcripts, and industry financials. FactSet Research Systems shares fell as much as 8.1% after the announcement, while Morningstar erased earlier gains to fall more than 3%. S&P Global and Moody's Corp. also saw sharp selling pressure as investors digested what a capable AI layer with native access to financial data could mean for traditional data providers. Bloomberg
Claude Opus 4.7 and Enterprise Traction
Underpinning all of it is Claude Opus 4.7, which Anthropic says now leads Vals AI's Finance Agent benchmark with a score of 64.4% and tops the GDPval-AA evaluation for economically valuable knowledge work. Anthropic has placed Claude into production at JPMorganChase, Goldman Sachs, Citi, AIG, Visa, and others. Fortune
The financial services launch caps a 48-hour stretch that also included Anthropic's joint venture announcement with Blackstone, Hellman & Friedman, and Goldman Sachs. The strategy has two tracks - one giving the largest institutions tools to run AI agents themselves, and another using the private equity-backed venture to embed Claude directly into mid-market company operations.
For executives watching the AI space, Tuesday's announcements confirm that the competition for financial services is no longer about which model scores better on academic benchmarks. It is about which AI company can build the deepest operational integration into the workflows that actually run the business.
