📢 The Signal Behind the Noise

Today's five stories all trace back to the same unresolved question: how do we actually know what's real anymore, and does anyone even agree on how to find out? Anthropic just built a system to prove Claude touched a piece of text, but the detector to actually read that proof doesn't exist yet. Roku bet audiences wouldn't notice or care that an entire channel was fake, and got a fast, blunt answer that they do. Colleges are discovering that even AI struggles to convincingly fake a real human voice, which is either reassuring or a little unsettling depending on how you look at it. Meanwhile Google and Cognition are both quietly proving that trust in AI, at the product level and the investment level, is still the thing everyone's actually racing to earn. Capability was never really the hard part. Knowing what to believe is.
