Bolt Graphics Founders
SUNNYVALE, Calif., Oct. 18, 2026 | Bolt Graphics, a chip design startup, is seeking about $100 million at a valuation of about $700 million, Reuters reported Oct. 15, citing three people familiar with the matter. The round is still in progress, and Reuters said the amount and valuation could still change. Coverage of the report says no lead investor has been identified.
Founder and CEO Darwesh Singh confirmed that fundraising is underway but declined to discuss the amount or terms, according to reports on the Reuters story. Bolt was founded in 2020.
What Bolt Is Building and What It Has Shown
Bolt’s first planned product is the Zeus GPU, aimed at scientific computing, chip design simulation and professional rendering, with a focus on double-precision (FP64) calculations. Bolt plans to start with professional users such as 3D artists and game developers before moving into consumer gaming cards. Reports on the company say it is not targeting the AI accelerator market that Nvidia dominates.
Bolt said Oct. 13 that it had finished the first round of testing on a Zeus test chip, which measures about 6 square millimetres and is built on TSMC’s 12-nanometre process. The company also opened an office in Taipei. The commercial chip is planned at about 400 square millimetres on TSMC’s 5-nanometre process, built from several smaller chips. Bolt says production begins in the fourth quarter of 2027, and HPCwire reports the finished GPU is not expected to ship until 2028.
Bolt has claimed large path-tracing speed advantages over Nvidia’s RTX 5090. Tom’s Hardware reported that the test behind one such comparison was cherry-picked and that key performance questions remain. No independent testing of a commercial Zeus chip exists, since none has been built.
How the Round Compares
Bolt is not the only chip startup raising at this scale. Efficient Computer raised more than $97 million at a $650 million valuation in September, according to Tech Funding News. Bolt’s reported ask of $100 million at $700 million is close to that deal on both measures.
The wider numbers point the same way. Crunchbase counted about $10.7 billion invested in semiconductor startups in the first five months of 2026, against $12.2 billion for all of 2025. By our arithmetic, five months of this year already equal about 88% of last year’s full total. Crunchbase said most of the money is going to AI-related companies, which makes Bolt’s non-AI focus unusual. For other recent rounds, see our list of top AI startups in 2026.
For anyone weighing what the round means for Bolt’s stake sizes, the reports do not say whether the $700 million valuation is measured before or after the new money. If it is after, $100 million would be about 14% of the company. If it is before, it would be about 12.5%.
For businesses that buy computing hardware, there is nothing to evaluate yet. The finished GPU is not expected to ship until 2028, and Bolt has not disclosed how much it has raised so far. Crunchbase lists a Series A, but neither its size nor its lead investor has been made public.
