Ajeet Singh

SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 22, 2026 | Different, a startup co-founded by Nutanix and ThoughtSpot co-founder Ajeet Singh, emerged from stealth with a $48 million seed round led by General Catalyst, the company said. The product is available now, according to AI Parabellum.

Other backers include Lightspeed Venture Partners, Together Fund, Haystack Ventures, MXV Capital and Firebolt Ventures, per AI Parabellum. The valuation was not disclosed. The company says the money will go toward growing its engineering and go-to-market teams. It is headquartered in San Francisco and has teams in San Francisco and Bengaluru, Inc42 reports. Singh co-founded Nutanix in 2009 and later started ThoughtSpot, according to Inc42.

What Different Does

Singh describes Different on LinkedIn as "an AI marketing system that runs demand generation end-to-end for lean B2B marketing teams." The company says its system plans campaigns and buyer journeys across channels, creates and launches ads, emails and landing pages, tailors messages to each target account, and shifts spend toward what is working while campaigns run. It also tracks how a brand appears in AI answers and recommends content changes, a practice we cover in our guide to generative engine optimization. A human marketer reviews the work before it goes live, according to AI Parabellum.

Singh's co-founders are Abhishek Pani, chief product officer, and Abhinav Yajurvedi, chief technology officer. The company's site says Pani led the machine learning team behind Adobe's marketing products and Yajurvedi built marketing infrastructure for Flipkart and Myntra. Hemant Taneja, General Catalyst's CEO, sits on the board and called changing how companies market "one of the largest opportunities in AI," per AI Parabellum.

The company names two early customers, Descope and Motif. It says a three-person marketing team at Motif went from running one campaign at a time to more than a dozen across four channels within a month, and that Descope's system found and redirected 60% of paid spend that had been going to poorly targeted accounts. Both results are provided by the company.

Analysis: Reading the Company's Claims

The round is small next to the multi-hundred-million-dollar raises in this week's AI funding news, but AI Parabellum describes $48 million as unusually large for a newly launched company's seed round. It adds to our list of the top AI startups of 2026. No valuation was disclosed.

The customer results are worth separating from the funding. Going from one campaign to "more than a dozen" means at least 12 times as many campaigns running at once. The announcement does not say how those campaigns performed, and the Descope figure describes where spend moved, not what it earned. Neither the announcement nor Inc42 reports revenue or a count of paying customers, and Inc42 describes the early customers as having tested the service. Buyers comparing AI marketing tools will want results from paying customers, which this announcement does not include. Our AI marketing statistics page tracks adoption data for the field.
