Kling AI costs $0 on its free Basic plan, and its paid plans renew at $8.80 a month for Standard, $32.56 for Pro, $80.96 to $376.99 for Premier depending on credits, and $544.99 for Ultra+, with 660 to 57,000 credits a month. New subscribers pay less for the first month ($6.99 for Standard), and yearly billing brings Standard down to $79.20 a year. A 5-second 1080p clip with sound on Kling VIDEO 3.0 uses 60 credits, which works out to about $0.80 on Standard and $0.57 on Ultra+.
This guide covers every consumer plan, how many credits each type of video uses, what a credit is really worth, when credits expire, which plans allow commercial use, what the Kling API costs developers, and how Kling's prices compare with Runway, Google, Luma, Pika and Hailuo.

How Much Does Kling AI Cost Per Month?
Kling AI has a free Basic plan and four paid plans: Standard, Pro, Premier and Ultra+. After the first-month discount, they renew at $8.80, $32.56, $80.96 to $376.99 (Premier, depending on how many credits you pick) and $544.99 a month.
Those prices come from Kling's official membership page, checked on November 1, 2026 (US view). Kling is built by the Chinese video platform Kuaishou. The first-month price is a one-time offer for your first purchase, monthly plans can be cancelled anytime, and the page labels yearly billing "34% Off." Premier uses a credit slider with four sizes, and the older Ultra plan with 26,000 credits no longer appears on the page.
Plan | First month | Monthly (renewal) | Yearly billing | Credits per month |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Basic | $0 | $0 | $0 | Small free allowance (see below) |
Standard | $6.99 | $8.80 | $79.20 a year ($6.60 a month) | 660 |
Pro | $25.99 | $32.56 | $293.04 a year ($24.42 a month) | 3,000 |
Premier 8K | $64.99 | $80.96 | $728.64 a year ($60.72 a month) | 8,000 |
Premier 18K | $144.99 | $181.99 | $1,639.99 a year ($136.67 a month) | 18,000 |
Premier 28K | $225.99 | $283.99 | $2,550.99 a year ($212.58 a month) | 28,000 |
Premier 38K | $299.99 | $376.99 | $3,389.99 a year ($282.50 a month) | 38,000 |
Ultra+ | $432.99 | $544.99 | $4,902.99 a year ($408.58 a month) | 57,000 |
Yearly billing saves $26.40 a year on Standard, $97.68 on Pro, $242.88 on Premier 8K and $1,636.89 on Ultra+ compared with twelve months at the renewal price. Yearly Ultra+ also lists "Kling 4.0 Flash: Annual Early Access" as a benefit, the only card that mentions Kling's newest model.
Is Kling AI Free?
Yes, Kling has a free Basic plan, but the allowance is small and the output carries a watermark. Free accounts can claim a batch of free credits once a month, and those credits last 31 days. The daily login credits Kling advertises are a subscriber perk.
A lot of older guides still say Kling gives everyone 66 free credits a day. That is out of date. Kling's own credits policy describes daily login credits as something subscribers can claim, with amounts set by announcement, and every paid card on the membership page lists daily free credits for subscribers. A hands-on test of a free account by Marc Andrews in August 2026 found a 66-credit balance, which is enough for one 5-second 1080p clip with sound (60 credits) and not much else.
The free plan excludes commercial use and watermark-free downloads, so treat it as a place to test prompts.
How Many Credits Does a Kling Video Cost?
On Kling VIDEO 3.0, a video costs 6 credits per second at 720p and 8 at 1080p without native audio, rising to 9 and 12 credits per second with audio. A 5-second clip therefore costs 30 to 60 credits, and a 10-second clip costs 60 to 120.
These rates were reported by eesel, Wireflow and Seedance, and they match the 45-credit and 60-credit quotes Marc Andrews saw in the app. On the API side, Kling bills 720p as Standard mode and 1080p as Pro mode, so standard versus professional mode is effectively a resolution choice on VIDEO 3.0.
Kling VIDEO 3.0 setting | Credits per second | 5-second clip | 10-second clip |
|---|---|---|---|
720p, no audio | 6 | 30 | 60 |
1080p, no audio | 8 | 40 | 80 |
720p, native audio | 9 | 45 | 90 |
1080p, native audio | 12 | 60 | 120 |
Native 4K | 30 | 150 | 300 |
Other rules that affect the bill:
Voice control adds 2 credits per second, so a 5-second clip costs 10 credits more.
4K costs 30 credits per second, according to Kling's own guide. That makes one 5-second 4K clip as expensive as five 720p clips.
Length: the 3.0 series generates 3 to 15 seconds per clip, and cost scales with every second.
Failed generations are refunded under Kling's credits policy. Retries you choose to run because you did not like the result are not.
What about older Kling models and Kling 4.0?
Older models are cheaper. When Kuaishou launched Kling 2.5 Turbo in September 2025, its press release put a 5-second 1080p clip at 25 credits, down from 35 on Kling 2.1.
Kling 4.0 launched globally on October 15, 2026, with clips up to 30 seconds, Magica reported. Kling has not published a credit rate for 4.0, according to WaveSpeed and Wireflow, so rely on the in-app quote.
What Is a Kling Credit Actually Worth?
A Kling credit is worth between about 0.7 and 1.5 cents, depending on how you buy it. Top-up credits cost $1 for 66 credits (about $1.52 per 100), while subscription credits run from $1.33 per 100 on Standard to $0.96 per 100 on Ultra+ at monthly renewal prices, and down to about $0.72 per 100 on yearly Ultra+.
The $1 for 66 credits rate is written into Kling's credits policy. The per-100 subscription rates are simple division: renewal price divided by monthly credits. Here is what that means per clip on VIDEO 3.0 at monthly renewal prices:
Plan (monthly renewal) | Cost per credit | 5s, 720p, no audio (30 credits) | 5s, 1080p, audio (60 credits) | 10s, 720p, no audio (60 credits) | 10s, 1080p, audio (120 credits) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Standard, $8.80 | $0.0133 | $0.40 | $0.80 | $0.80 | $1.60 |
Pro, $32.56 | $0.0109 | $0.33 | $0.65 | $0.65 | $1.30 |
Premier 8K, $80.96 | $0.0101 | $0.30 | $0.61 | $0.61 | $1.21 |
Premier 38K, $376.99 | $0.0099 | $0.30 | $0.60 | $0.60 | $1.19 |
Ultra+, $544.99 | $0.0096 | $0.29 | $0.57 | $0.57 | $1.15 |
Top-up, $1 per 66 | $0.0152 | $0.45 | $0.91 | $0.91 | $1.82 |
The Premier 18K and 28K sizes cost almost exactly the same per credit as Premier 8K (about $1.01 per 100), so the slider buys you volume, not a discount. Yearly billing cuts every figure by roughly a quarter. On a Standard yearly plan ($6.60 a month for 660 credits), a credit costs exactly one cent, so a 5-second 1080p clip with audio costs $0.60 and a 10-second one costs $1.20. On yearly Ultra+ the same clips cost about $0.43 and $0.86.
How many videos do you get per month?
Standard's 660 credits buy 22 five-second 720p clips without audio, or 11 five-second 1080p clips with audio. Pro's 3,000 credits buy 100 or 50 of the same clips, Premier 8K buys 266 or 133, Premier 38K buys 1,266 or 633, and Ultra+'s 57,000 credits buy 1,900 or 950.
Kling's July 2026 credit cost guide advertised "33 videos" at 720p on Standard, which implies 20 credits per video. A 5-second 720p VIDEO 3.0 clip actually uses 30 to 45 credits, so budget on the per-second rates, not the headline count.
Do Kling Credits Roll Over or Expire?
Kling credits do not roll over. Monthly subscription credits expire one month after they are issued, purchased top-up credits last two years, and daily login credits reset at midnight.
The full rules, from Kling's credits policy:
Subscription credits: valid for one month from the date they are issued. An annual plan still releases credits month by month.
Purchased credits: valid for two years, and unaffected if you cancel your subscription.
7-day membership credits: valid for seven days.
Login credits: issued on your first login of the day and reset at 24:00.
Spending order: Kling spends the credits closest to expiry first.
No refunds or transfers: credits cannot be cashed out or moved between accounts, including between your personal and team spaces.
If you regularly finish a month with credits left over, drop a tier and buy top-ups for busy months instead, since they last two years.
Can You Use Kling AI Videos Commercially?
Yes, on any paid plan. Standard, Pro, Premier and Ultra+ all include commercial use rights and brand watermark removal, plus 1080p and 4K generation. The free Basic plan does not allow commercial use and keeps the Kling watermark.
Every paid card on Kling's membership page states "Generated content is for commercial use" and also lists daily free credits for subscribers, unlimited queued tasks, fast-track generation, priority access to new features, free voice control on VIDEO 2.6 and three free daily uses of Element AI Multi-Shot. The free plan's limits are recorded by Wireflow and eesel. For a business, this makes Standard the real entry point: at $6.99 for the first month and $8.80 after, it is the cheapest way to get clean, licensed clips for ads, social posts or client work.
How Much Does the Kling API Cost?
The Kling API is sold separately from the consumer plans, in prepaid units with a list price of $0.14 each. A 5-second Kling 3.0 clip at 720p without audio costs $0.42, and a 5-second 1080p clip with audio costs $0.84.
Developers buy resource packages on Kling's developer platform. Published packages, as reported by CostBench, Wireflow and eesel, include:
Trial: $9.80 for 100 units, valid 30 days.
Standard package: $700 for 5,000 units, valid 180 days, with 20 concurrent requests.
Larger packages: from 30,000 units, the price drops to $0.126 per unit.
Unused units expire after 180 days, and usage is billed per second:
Kling 3.0 API setting | Units per second | Price per second | 5-second clip | 10-second clip |
|---|---|---|---|---|
720p, no audio | 0.6 | $0.084 | $0.42 | $0.84 |
1080p, no audio | 0.8 | $0.112 | $0.56 | $1.12 |
720p, native audio | 0.9 | $0.126 | $0.63 | $1.26 |
1080p, native audio | 1.2 | $0.168 | $0.84 | $1.68 |
4K | 3.0 | $0.42 | $2.10 | $4.20 |
API units mirror consumer credits at a 1 to 10 ratio (0.6 units per second versus 6 credits per second), but at $0.14 a unit the API costs more per clip than any subscription. The prepaid packages did not support Kling 4.0 when Wireflow checked in October, and the developer platform listed the 4.0 API as coming soon.

Is Kling Cheaper Than Runway, Veo, Luma, Pika and Hailuo?
At the entry level, Kling is one of the cheapest paid AI video plans. Standard renews at $8.80 a month, against $15 for Runway Standard, $19.99 for Google AI Pro, $10 for Pika's entry plan, $30 for Luma's Plus plan and a $14.99 list price for Hailuo Standard.
Each company's credits buy different amounts of video, so headline prices only tell part of the story.
Tool | Entry paid plan | Monthly price | Annual (per month) | Monthly credits |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Kling AI | Standard | $8.80 ($6.99 first month) | $6.60 | 660 |
Runway | Standard | $15 | $12 | 625 |
Google (Veo in Gemini and Flow) | Google AI Pro | $19.99 | Not compared | 1,000 Flow credits |
Luma | Plus | $30 | $25 | 10,000 |
Pika | Starter or Standard | $10 | $8 | Varies by Pika site |
Hailuo (MiniMax) | Standard | $14.99 list, often discounted | Not compared | 1,000 |
Notes on each competitor:
Runway: Standard is $15 a month or $12 billed annually for 625 credits, and Gen-4.5 uses 12 credits per second, according to checks by DIY AI (October 26) and Magic Hour. That puts a 5-second Gen-4.5 clip at $1.44 on monthly Standard, versus $0.80 for a 5-second 1080p clip with audio on Kling Standard. Runway's cheaper Gen-4 Turbo (5 credits per second) brings a 5-second clip down to $0.60.
Google Veo: Google bundles video generation into its AI subscriptions rather than selling it alone. Google's plan page lists Google AI Plus at $4.99 a month with 200 Flow credits, Google AI Pro at $19.99 with 1,000 Flow credits and a limited Veo 3.1 Lite trial, and Google AI Ultra from $99.99 with Veo 3.1. You also get Gemini and storage. See our guide on how to use Gemini.
Luma: Luma's official pricing page now sells Luma Agents plans: Plus at $30 a month ($25 billed yearly) with 10,000 credits and commercial use, Pro at $90 and Ultra at $300.
Pika: Pika's entry paid plan is $10 a month, or about $8 billed annually, per Magic Hour and GPTPrompts. Pika is running a new Pika Create site alongside its legacy site, and the two give different credit amounts, so check which one you are signing up on.
One name missing from the table is Sora. OpenAI announced on March 24, 2026 that it would discontinue Sora in both the consumer app and the API, Engadget reported. We covered the fallout in our story on the Sora shutdown and the collapsed Disney deal. For prices across every major AI tool, see our AI pricing guide.
Which Kling AI Plan Should You Choose?
Most solo creators and small businesses should start on Standard, ideally billed yearly. Move to Pro only when you regularly run out of credits, and treat Premier and Ultra+ as volume plans for agencies and studios.
Testing Kling: Basic. Enough for a clip or two a month, watermarked and not for commercial use.
Occasional social clips or ads: Standard. 11 five-second 1080p clips with audio a month, licensed and watermark-free, for $8.80 or $6.60 billed annually.
Weekly content production: Pro. 50 five-second 1080p clips with audio a month. At $32.56 it costs 3.7 times Standard but gives 4.5 times the credits.
Agencies and studios: Premier, sized with the slider from 8,000 to 38,000 credits. Pick the smallest size you will actually use, because larger sizes barely lower the price per credit.
The heaviest users: Ultra+. At $0.96 per 100 credits monthly, or about $0.72 billed yearly, it is the cheapest per credit, and yearly Ultra+ adds Kling 4.0 Flash early access. At $4,902.99 a year, it only pays off if you use most of the 57,000 monthly credits.
Developers building products: the API trial at $9.80, then the $700 package once you know your volume.
Budget for retries: if one usable 5-second 1080p clip with audio takes three attempts, it really costs 180 credits, or $2.40 on monthly Standard. Our Midjourney pricing guide covers a similar credit trade-off.
