Midjourney costs $10 a month for Basic, $30 for Standard, $60 for Pro and $120 for Mega, with annual billing 20% cheaper. There is no free trial on Discord or the website. The plans differ by Fast GPU hours (3.3 to 60), Relax mode and video access, and extra GPU time costs $4 an hour. Prices come from Midjourney's own plan page, checked October 2026.
Is Midjourney worth $10, $30 or $120 a month? The answer depends less on the sticker price than on how many GPU minutes you burn, and Midjourney does not show that math anywhere on its plan page.
This guide does the math. It covers what each plan includes, what an image and a video really cost, where Basic stops making sense, and the refund and billing rules that catch people out. If you are still deciding whether to subscribe, our guide to what Midjourney is covers the tool itself.

How Much Does Midjourney Cost Per Month?
Midjourney costs $10 a month for Basic, $30 for Standard, $60 for Pro and $120 for Mega. Paying annually takes 20% off, which brings the monthly equivalents to $8, $24, $48 and $96. Annual plans are paid in full upfront. Extra GPU time costs $4 an hour on every plan.
Plan | Monthly | Annual (total) | Annual per month | Saving vs monthly |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Basic | $10 | $96 | $8 | $24 a year |
Standard | $30 | $288 | $24 | $72 a year |
Pro | $60 | $576 | $48 | $144 a year |
Mega | $120 | $1,152 | $96 | $288 a year |
Those figures answer the common searches "how much is Midjourney" and "how much does Midjourney cost." The real cost sits in the Fast GPU hours each plan includes, covered next. The annual discount is the only discount Midjourney offers, and you pay for the full year up front, so it only makes sense once you are sure you will keep using the tool.

What Do You Get on Each Midjourney Plan?
Every Midjourney plan includes a monthly pool of Fast GPU hours: 3.3 on Basic, 15 on Standard, 30 on Pro and 60 on Mega. Standard and above add unlimited Relax images. Pro and Mega add Stealth Mode and unlimited Relax video. That covers the main differences between the four Midjourney plans.
Basic | Standard | Pro | Mega | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Fast GPU hours a month | 3.3 (200 minutes) | 15 | 30 | 60 |
Relax mode | Not listed | Unlimited images | Unlimited images and SD video | Unlimited images and SD video |
Video resolution | SD | SD and HD | SD and HD | SD and HD |
Stealth Mode | No | No | Yes | Yes |
Concurrent image jobs | 3 Fast | 3 Fast or Relax | 12 Fast or 3 Relax | 12 Fast or 3 Relax |
Concurrent video jobs | 1 Fast | 3 Fast | 6 Fast or 3 Relax | 12 Fast or 3 Relax |
Fast mode gets your job to the front of the queue, while Relax mode waits in line at no GPU cost. A Midjourney subscription therefore buys speed more than it buys images. Because Relax is unlimited on Standard and up, a patient user on Standard can generate far more than the Fast hours suggest.
Stealth Mode, which keeps your images out of public galleries, only comes with Pro and Mega. Eesel notes it does not make earlier images private after the fact. Source: Midjourney's plan comparison and eesel's Midjourney pricing guide, published June 5, 2026.
How Much Does Each Midjourney Image Cost?
A standard four-image prompt uses about one GPU minute, so images cost roughly $0.01 each on Standard, Pro and Mega and about $0.0125 on Basic. Buying extra GPU time at $4 an hour raises that to about $0.017 an image. These per-image figures are arithmetic from Midjourney's prices, not figures Midjourney publishes.
The per-minute rate comes from dividing each plan's price by its included GPU minutes. The job lengths come from eesel's table of approximate GPU minutes per job.
Job | GPU minutes (approx.) | Basic ($0.05 a minute) | Standard, Pro, Mega ($0.033 a minute) | Extra GPU time ($0.067 a minute) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Prompt (4 images) | 1 | $0.05 | $0.03 | $0.07 |
Creative or Subtle upscale | 2 | $0.10 | $0.07 | $0.13 |
SD video batch (4 clips) | 8 | $0.40 | $0.27 | $0.53 |
HD video batch (4 clips) | 26 | n/a | $0.87 | $1.73 |
Standard, Pro and Mega all charge the same $0.033 per Fast minute, so moving up the ladder does not make images cheaper. It buys more hours and more concurrency. Basic is the expensive way to buy Fast minutes, at 50% more per minute than the other plans. The HD cell for Basic is marked n/a because Basic has no HD video.
Note that GPU minutes per job are approximate and vary by model version. Turbo mode, which eesel reports uses double the Fast time per image, is not included in this table.
How Much Does Midjourney Video Cost?
Midjourney video costs about 8 times as much as an image job, according to its launch coverage. By eesel's table, a batch of four SD clips uses about 8 GPU minutes, and a batch of four HD clips about 26. On Standard, that works out to roughly $0.27 and $0.87 a batch.
Midjourney launched its first video model on June 18, 2025. Each job produces four five-second clips, and a clip can be extended by four seconds up to four times, for about 21 seconds in total. Unlimited Relax video is limited to Pro and Mega, and only at SD resolution. HD video runs in Fast mode only.
Plan | SD video batches from Fast hours (approx.) | HD video batches from Fast hours (approx.) | Unlimited Relax video |
|---|---|---|---|
Basic | 25 | Not available | No |
Standard | 112 | 34 | No |
Pro | 225 | 69 | SD only |
Mega | 450 | 138 | SD only |
The batch counts divide each plan's Fast minutes by eesel's 8 and 26 minute figures, so treat them as estimates. Video is where plans start to feel different. A Basic subscriber has enough for about 25 SD batches before extra GPU time kicks in, while a Pro subscriber can run SD video in Relax all month without touching the Fast pool.

Is Midjourney Free?
No. Midjourney has no free trial on Discord or midjourney.com, and the only limited trial is in its niji journey mobile app. Midjourney's own help page says "No free trial is currently available in Discord or the midjourney.com website." That is why searches for "Midjourney free" never lead to a free plan.
Midjourney paused its free trials in 2023, according to eesel, and has not restored them. If you want to use Midjourney for free, the only route is the limited trial in the niji journey app, and the help page does not say how large it is or when it ends.
If cost is the issue, there are free alternatives. Krea, itself a competitor, lists the following in a September 2026 post:
Free option | What you get |
|---|---|
Krea's free plan | 100 compute units a day on Krea 2, no credit card, private generations; video and commercial license are paid |
Google's Nano Banana 2 | Free within Google's app limits |
FLUX.2 from Black Forest Labs | Open weights you can run locally |
ChatGPT free tier | A few images a day, with no published fixed cap |
Krea's post is promotional, so treat the list as a starting point rather than a ranking. For a broader look, see our best free AI image generators with no sign-up and our guide to the best AI image generators.

Which Midjourney Plan Should You Choose?
Choose Basic for a short trial, Standard for most regular creators, Pro if you need Stealth Mode or unlimited video in Relax, and Mega for studios hitting Pro's concurrency limits. Companies earning over $1 million in gross annual revenue must buy Pro or Mega under Midjourney's commercial terms.
The break-even points are where the plans stop making sense, using the $4 an hour top-up price:
Move | Where it pays off |
|---|---|
Basic to Standard | Above about 8.3 Fast hours a month, Standard ($30) costs less than Basic plus top-ups |
Standard to Pro | Above about 22.5 Fast hours, Pro ($60) costs less than Standard plus top-ups |
Pro to Mega | Above about 45 Fast hours, Mega ($120) costs less than Pro plus top-ups |
The pattern is that every upgrade adds hours at $2 or less each, half the $4 top-up price or better. If you regularly run out of Fast time, upgrading is cheaper than buying more, and Basic is the plan most likely to push you into costly top-ups. Pro and Mega also carry reasons beyond hours: Stealth Mode, more concurrent jobs, and the commercial-use requirement for larger companies.
If you are | Plan to start with |
|---|---|
Testing Midjourney for a month | Basic, then move up if you hit the limit |
A regular creator or small team | Standard, using Relax for non-urgent images |
Making video or needing private images | Pro |
A studio running many jobs at once | Mega |
A company over $1M in gross annual revenue | Pro or Mega, required by Midjourney's terms |
Eesel's recommendations line up with this reading: Standard for regular creators, Pro for Stealth Mode and companies over $1 million, and Mega for studios. Commercial use is allowed on paid plans, subject to the revenue rule above. Can You Cancel Midjourney or Get a Refund?
Yes, you can cancel at any time, but refunds are narrow. Midjourney refunds a subscription only if you have used fewer than 20 GPU minutes in the whole life of your account. If you qualify, the option appears automatically when you cancel, and the money can take up to 10 business days to arrive.
Cancel before the next renewal date, since plans renew automatically. Accounts suspended for breaking Midjourney's terms are not eligible. Three more catches come from eesel's June 2026 review:
Fast hours expire at the end of each billing cycle, even on annual plans.
Turbo mode uses twice the Fast time per image, and eesel reports confusion over the V7 speed-mode controls led to unexpected Fast-hour burn.
Billing support runs through Discord. Eesel cites a 1.5 out of 5 Trustpilot rating on 351 reviews against 4.4 out of 5 on G2 from about 98.
Because of the 20-minute limit, the safest way to test Midjourney is to cancel the same day you decide it is not for you. A single Standard-plan session can pass 20 GPU minutes quickly. Sources: Midjourney's refund page and eesel.
Does Midjourney Have an API, and What Does It Cost?
Midjourney's plan page lists no API pricing, and we could not confirm that Midjourney offers a public API. Third-party services resell access instead. One of them, EvoLink, lists Midjourney V7 access from $0.0375 per draft request, billed per request and not per image, on its own page dated April 12, 2026.
Because EvoLink sells the service, treat its numbers as vendor claims, and check Midjourney's terms before building a product on any unofficial route. Each request can return up to four images, so the cost per image depends on what you keep. For an API-heavy workflow, compare this against the plan math above, where Standard works out to under a cent per image. Source: EvoLink's Midjourney API pricing post.
Conclusion
Midjourney pricing runs $10 for Basic, $30 for Standard, $60 for Pro and $120 for Mega, with 20% off annual billing and extra GPU time at $4 an hour, as of October 2026. Images cost about a cent each on Standard and above, video costs roughly eight times more, and there is no free trial outside the niji journey app. Standard suits most people, because moving up from Basic pays off past about 8 Fast hours a month. Pro and Mega add Stealth Mode, unlimited Relax video and the commercial-use requirement for companies over $1 million. Refunds only cover accounts under 20 GPU minutes, so decide quickly.
