STOCKHOLM, Oct. 21, 2026 | Legal AI startup Legora raised $550 million in a Series E round at an $8.8 billion valuation, the company announced Wednesday. Atreides Management led the round, according to TechCrunch.
The company says it will use the money to expand in North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific and to keep building its platform, called Legora aOS, according to The Next Web. New investors include Baron Capital, Capital Group, Fidelity Management & Research Company, Glade Brook Capital Partners and J.P. Morgan. Existing backers Accel, Benchmark, General Catalyst, ICONIQ and Salesforce Ventures also took part, per The Next Web. Legora builds AI tools that help lawyers with workflow tasks, a category we cover in our guide to AI legal assistants.
Legora’s Growth, as Reported by the Company
Legora says its annual recurring revenue (ARR) has passed $200 million. TechCrunch reports the company reached $100 million in April, so the figure has roughly doubled in about six months. The company describes the path as going from $1 million to $100 million in under 18 months, then adding another $100 million in under six.
Legora also reports 140,000-plus legal professionals at more than 2,400 law firms and in-house teams across 80-plus markets. It says more than half of the AmLaw 50 are customers, and that in-house teams made up over 40% of its new customers in the third quarter. The company reports more than 1,000 employees across 18 offices, and the U.S. is its largest market by revenue. These numbers come from the company and haven’t been independently verified.
CEO Max Junestrand said in the announcement: “The opportunity in legal is enormous and we are still early.” CFO David Eckstein added: “Growth only counts if the business underneath it holds up.”
Analysis: How the Valuation Compares
TechCrunch says Legora’s previous valuation was $5.6 billion, set in April when it extended a $550 million Series D by $50 million. Against that, $8.8 billion is a 57% increase in about six months.
The ARR figure puts the valuation in context. Divided by $200 million, $8.8 billion works out to 44 times ARR. Because Legora says ARR is “over” $200 million, the true multiple is at most about 44. ARR is a run-rate measure, not recognized revenue, so the two aren’t directly comparable.
Legora’s closest rival is Harvey, which TechCrunch describes as its biggest competitor. TechCrunch reports Harvey announced a $550 million raise at a $15.5 billion valuation weeks earlier, and that Harvey’s ARR was above $200 million as of March. Those figures come from different dates, so we haven’t compared the two companies’ multiples.
For legal buyers, the in-house share is worth noting. If more than 40% of Legora’s new customers are in-house teams, vendors in this market are selling beyond law firms.
