TORONTO, Oct. 13, 2026 | TD Bank Group is extending its agentic AI from mortgage pre-adjudication into parts of the funding and discharge process, Canadian Mortgage Trends reported on Oct. 13. TD says employees still review the AI’s output and handle decisions that need human judgment.

What TD Is Adding to Funding and Discharges

In funding, the tools verify documents, connect information across internal systems and flag possible discrepancies, according to Canadian Mortgage Trends. They produce a case summary that lets employees finish the initial review in up to half the time. In discharges, the system gathers the information needed to prepare a discharge statement, and employees review it before it is issued.

TD says the tools are meant to double employee productivity in select mortgage processes. Mohit Veoli, TD’s senior vice-president of real estate secured lending, said: “By simplifying repetitive parts of the mortgage journey, AI can make everyday work easier and reduce friction for clients.” The report does not say how widely the tools are deployed, and it names no technology vendor.

What TD Has and Has Not Shown

The expansion builds on a tool TD launched in May. In its May 21 release, TD described its first agentic AI model, built by its Layer 6 AI research centre, which drafts application summary memos for underwriters on mortgage and home equity line of credit applications. TD said “early results” showed the process dropping from an average of 15 hours to under three minutes. The release does not define the start and end points of that timing or give a sample size.

TD said then that the launch was the first step in an overhaul of its real estate secured lending operations, with agentic AI planned for every stage from document submission to funding. A TD feature published July 31 says all new personal mortgages go through the pre-adjudication process. The productivity goals for funding and discharges are intentions, not measured results.
